the Yangtze River. River cruise
at night and a ride on China's
first monorail. |

Day 2: Changshou (37km
cycling) |
Cross
the Yangtze River and cycle to
Mudong, once on the way out of
Chongqing and then again to enter
Changzhou and cycle along the
south side of the Yangtze. |

Day 3: Fengdu (113km cycling) |
Fengdu
is famous for its ghost town Mingshan
Mountain, the stone carving of
the ghost king appearing in the
Guinness Book of Records, and
the unique kingdom of hell. |

Day 4: Wanxian (172km
cycling) |
Visit
the two nine-storeyed pagodas
for good fortune. |

Day 5: Fengjie (136km
cycling) |
| Cycle
to Fengjie on mountainous roads. |

Day 6: Badong |
Take
Ferry 93 km through the Qutang
and Wu Gorges to Badong and then
a half-day excursion up the Shennong
Stream for impressive scenery
in the "peapod" boats
that are pulled and rowed upstream. |

Day 7: Yichang (58km cycling) |
Take
a ferry 66 km through the Xiling
Gorge and to the Three Gorges
Dam site. Cycle 58 km to Yichang. |

Fly
to Shanghai in the afternoon:
