In Kashgar, the Seman Hotel is not only one of the oldest hotels but it is also the only one to be decorated in the typical style of the Uyghur people. Note that the Russian consulate was located in this building at the end of the 19th century but it was transformed into a hotel in 1950. The location of this 3-star hotel is very advantageous since it is only 7 and 9 kilometers from the train station and Kashgar airport respectively. The Aitgar Mosque and other attractions of the city are only a few kilometers away. There is the possibility of choosing between dormitory or room. The Seman Hotel is a popular place for backpackers because the rates are very affordable. The rooms are clean, decorated in Uyghur style with colorful stucco frescoes and oriental furniture. The hotel has 7 restaurants including one with Chinese specialties and one offering delicious Muslim cuisine.
