Beijing Zoo - 北京动物园

Review of

The zoo is not a must-see. Just get the ticket to see the Pandas. A 30-minute visit is more than enough (to be combined with the Summer Palace)

Introduction to Beijing Zoo

Beijing Zoo is located in the Xicheng district and was one of the first zoos opened in China, in 1906. It houses several hundred animal areas including the famous giant pandas, exhibitions and some sites of historical interest. In total, there are just over 450 species at Beijing Zoo for a population of 5,000 animals. Apart from giant pandas, there are several rare wild animals in China such as golden monkeys and tigers from the northeastern regions of China. However, it is not only animals from China that are found there since there are polar bears, bison, zebras, kangaroos, elephants and giraffes. Each year, at least 10 million visitors pass through the doors of Beijing Zoo.

Since 1999, an aquarium in every way exceptional has been installed in the complex. You can see sea lions and dolphins in particular. A visit to Beijing Zoo can easily be combined with the Summer Palace in one day. The entrance fee depends on what you choose to visit and the season. The panda house and aquarium require an additional fee. From April to October, the prices are lower than from November to March. The base price is 10 yuan, and you have to add 5 yuan to see the pandas. The entrance fee for the aquarium is 130 yuan. Beijing Zoo is open from 7:30 am to 6 pm.
