Shamian Island lies on the edge of the Zhui River in Guangzhou and is connected to the shore by a series of small bridges. It is an old French-British concession of the 19th century. It is now a peaceful historical district of Guangzhou city where it is pleasant to walk on its pedestrian streets lined with rows of trees.
