The Leifeng Pagoda is located south of Xi Lake in Hangzhou and offers a magnificent panorama of Hangzhou and Xi Lake from its summit.Built in 977 during the Northern Song Dynasty, it is successively damaged and renovated. it is finally abandoned after an invasion of pirates and the bricks of the Pagoda are stolen one by one during the Qing Dynasty and the beginning of the Republic of China. In 1924 the tower collapses definitively. Excavation work began on the site of the ancient Pagoda in 2000 and the construction of a new Pagoda above the site of the old one was completed in 2002.The current Pagoda of 72 m is composed of 3 parts:– The pedestal in which can be seen the ruins of the ancient Pagoda protected by transparent windows,– The body of the Pagoda that can be explored by stairs or lifts,– The top of the Pagoda which offers a superb view of Xi Lake and Hangzhou.The relics of the ancient Pagoda are preserved in the pedestal and tells the story of love between a young scholar and a woman who is none other than the transformation of a white snake.Useful informationPlan 2 hours to visit the PagodaChinese Name : Léi fēng tǎ – 雷峰塔Ticket prices :
