Built during the Tang Dynasty (618-907 AD) under the name of Xinxiang Temple, it had good and darker periods until its destruction during the war marking the end of the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). Its current name appears when it has been rebuilt by a Zen master in 1697.It is the main Zen temple in the region and the many relics it contains attract a crowd of believers.
