Yarkand
Yarkand was for centuries an important stop for caravans leaving from Leh in India to cross the Karakorum Pass. Unlike other Uighur cities, artisans are very active in Yarkand.Yarkand consists of a new Chinese city and an old Uighur city with a beautiful mosque and a beautiful Muslim cemetery. The surrounding countryside offers beautiful walks.
