Presentation of Wutaishan Mountain

A few hundred kilometers southwest of Beijing, Mount Wutaishan is a place of pilgrimage for many Buddhists from around the world, much like Lourdes is in France. Wutaishan means “Mount of Five Terraces” in French. Well Named. The place is indeed located in the hollow of a beautiful valley dominated by five peaks. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.A true den of Buddhism, the few dozen temples are maintained with great care. The decorations, the colors and the fineness of the finishes will hold your attention. Some temples like the temple of Pusading, Xiantong and Tayuan, welcome a lot of tourists every day. The prayer rooms are usually filled. It is customary for pilgrims to repeat the same rituals many times before Buddha statues and burn incense sticks. At the time of the gong, you can see the monks receive their meal. The ascent of the plateaus is to be done as well. The path is not very long. Barely 3 kilometers. The view of the villages is breathtaking. Do not hesitate to visit temples a little more secluded and including the Temple of the Source of the Dragon. This monastery is composed of several temples where silence and tranquility reign. A pure moment of Buddhist spirituality. To get to Wutaishan Mountain, the nearest airport and Taiyuan Airport. It is connected to Beijing, Canton and Shanghai. From Datong, it is possible to take the bus to Taiyuan. Once in Taiyuan, a bus will take you to Tayuan Village. Movements from one village to another are then easily organized.
