Qinghai travel pictures
Presentation of Qinghai
Qinghai is an extension of the Tibetan plateau and is almost exclusively composed of high plateaus only populated by nomads. This contributes to its status as the third poorest province of China. Only the eastern region crossed by the yellow river where the capital Xining is located, is cultivated and populated mainly by Han and Hui ethnic groups. Nevertheless, Qinghai has many natural, cultural and spiritual riches, including: The largest lake in China, the source of the three largest rivers in China, the sites where the current Dalai Lama was born and the founder of the present dominant sect of Tibetan Buddhism and many very active monasteries.
