Statues of Buddhas, monasteries, landscapes!
Here is a short circuit of 5 days in the Chinese province of Gansu. It may be extended by a second circuit such as that of the Silk Road. A trek in the desert of Badain Jaran is also possible.
Protected by part of the Great Wall of China, Gansu Province has for a long time a link between central China and arid Central Asia. It was noted for these Buddhist sites, such as the thousand Buddha caves and its many monasteries. Because of its geographical location between Inner Mongolia, Qinghai and Xinjiang, this northwest China province was one of the stages of the famous Silk Road that started in Xi’an in Shaanxi.
