Fujian, a province in southeast China, has a subtropical climate with moderate winters. Annual temperatures hover around 18°C. Fujian is one of China’s rainy provinces. The rainy season runs from March to June. In August, the region is affected by typhoons. It is therefore recommended to avoid traveling along the coast. The two most pleasant seasons for traveling around Fujian are spring and autumn, although it is possible to consider a stay throughout the year.
Spring weather in Fujian:
Although Fujian’s spring climate is often rainy, the province remains pleasant as it generally doesn’t rain all day. The temperatures are pleasant enough to visit Fujian and enjoy your stay in more than adequate conditions.
Summer weather in Fujian:
Summer is very hot and sunny in this part of China. Temperatures can rise quite high, although in coastal cities like Xiamen, the sea breeze makes it feel cooler. Don’t forget sunscreen and a hat to protect yourself from the sun, and keep yourself well hydrated to avoid suffering from the harsh climate.
Autumn weather in Fujian:
Once the rainy and typhoon season has passed, the weather becomes much milder. This brings us to the period from September to November. Temperatures in Xiamen are mild, and the sun is much less harsh than in summer.
Winter weather in Fujian:
The mountains in northwest Fujian block winds from northern China. As a result, the climate remains relatively pleasant in winter, with temperatures rarely dropping below 10°C on the coast and rarely below 8°C in the hills. Enough to enjoy a mild winter on Gulangyu Island!
