Sun Yat-sen (1866-1925) was a Chinese revolutionary, founder and first president of the Republic of China, he was also a doctor. The construction of this memorial begins a few years after his death and is completed in 1931. It is located south of Yuexiu Park and is the largest memorial built in honor of Sun Yat-sen.There is a 5-meter bronze statue representing Sun Yat-sen. This statue is supported by a white marble pedestal.The main building of this memorial is an old octagonal house. Inside, many photos and writings evoking the work of Sun Yat-sen. Many photos and writings are also kept in the exhibition hall located north west of this main building.Centennial trees are also to be discovered in this memorial.
