It is the largest park in the center of Guangzhou, it is composed of 3 artificial lakes and 7 hills. There are many trees and flowers, as well as some cultural and historical relics. Every year there is the “Spring Festival of Flowers”, but also the exhibition of Chrysanthemums in Autumn. In the park there is a stadium of 30,000 seats which serves various events.

Things to see in the park

The statue of 5 goats (Wǔ yáng shídiāo – 五羊石雕)

One of the most famous statues in Guangzhou, it has become the emblem of the city. It was built in 1959 and its design is rooted in a local legend that tells the story of 5 immortals straddling goats and bringing prosperity to the city.

Zhentai Tower

It is a five-story Pagoda built during the Ming Dynasty and once served as a watch tower. 28 meters high and truncating on one of the hills, it offers a beautiful view of the park from its summit. It was destroyed and rebuilt several times during these 600 years of existence. Nowadays, the tower has become a museum and houses many documents and relics related to the history of the city.

The 3 lakes

These are 3 artificial lakes (Dongxiu, Nanxiu and Beixiu). Beixiu Lake is open for boating and fishing.
