Claire, Damien and their three children – Travel on the Silk Road (15 days)

Program : Xi’an – Zhangye – Jiayuguan – Dunhuang – Grottes de Mogao – Turpan – Kashgar – Pékin

Dear Jacques,

We returned to Paris on Monday morning after a wonderful trip. All five of us are delighted with our trip to China, which went very well!

China is a country that has offered us many surprises and landscapes, each more varied and beautiful than the last.

The organization of the trip was perfect. The French-speaking guides were also perfect, each one competent and friendly in their own way.

The drivers are always there when you need them.

As for the hotels, everything was very good with just a small remark about the Lyonsang Hotel in Beijing, very well located and charming, but whose room for three was in fact a very small disabled room (impossible to find a place to open a suitcase on the floor), and whose cleanliness in the rooms left something to be desired.

It was just a detail but I’m letting you know in case other travelers find it.

Xinjiang was beautiful but indeed very policed. There were many checkpoints, giving the impression of being under heavy surveillance. But the people we met were warm and kind. Our driver for this part of the trip was particularly pleasant, even though he didn’t speak our language at all.

We really liked this slightly oriental part of China and had the impression of having visited two different countries by changing region (the change of language had something to do with it).

We would be delighted if the opportunity arose to call on Asian Roads again, perhaps one day for Sichuan, Yunnan and Tibet.

So, thank you again for your organization and your availability before the trip.

Yours faithfully,

Claire, Damien and their three children.
