Claire – Immersion Tour among the Minorities of Guizhou and Guangxi (14 days)

Program : Guiyang – Kaili – Jiajiu & Jiabang – Rongjiang – Zhaoxing – Danian – Chengyang – Ping’an – Yangshuo – Guilin

Hello Jérémy,

Return from China Sunday evening after a few mishaps (plane delay, car breakdown, etc.). But we are delighted with our trip and definitely won over by China.

As for the itinerary, we appreciated the breaks in Guiyang on the way there and back, the walks in villages that weren’t always touristy (and especially in these villages) and the drivers and guides, especially those who did the last part of the trip (and the longest). The driver is a gem: careful, attentive and knows the region perfectly.

Of course, we regretted that the second guide wasn’t French-speaking, but he was extremely friendly, and I think we understood the gist of it.
As for the hotels, there were no problems, except perhaps in Sandu, where the breakfast left something to be desired. Even the noodles were cold. We could have asked to have them reheated, the guide told us, but the welcome was also cold.

Our favorite: the Zhaoxing lodge, with its Zen atmosphere and continental breakfast.
Breakfast (special for us this time) at Zhen Yuan. If I had any advice to give to French tourists, I’d tell them to pack coffee bags in their suitcases (there are kettles in all hotels).

We spent 2 nights at a local’s house. I imagined meals taken together with the possibility of exchanges translated by the guide. Not so. We dined alone and the contact was not particularly warm. So what’s the point? I suppose there were no other accommodation options in these regions and if that’s the case, no regrets because we really enjoyed the non-touristy areas.

Thank you for organizing the trip and for the speed with which you always responded to my messages.

You can tell the drivers and guides how much we enjoyed this Chinese trip with them.

2017 and 2018 China, we will probably take a break in 2019, but for 2020, we are already dreaming of another itinerary.

Sincerely

Claire
