Patrice and Marie France – Sichuan (5 days)

Chongqing – Dazu – Chengdu – Jiuzhaigou – Huanglong

Hello Paul,

I have never been so late in telling you that we had some excellent days in September with very kind guides and drivers.

We were pleased to meet Wang Yu again in Chengdu and his enthusiasm in guiding us through his city in excellent French.

We were pleasantly surprised by the flight to Chongqing arriving half an hour early and the return flight from Chengdu to Jiuzhaigou arriving on time. We thought it was a big change! But the flight to Shenzhen, which was delayed by more than two hours, confirmed that air traffic was returning to normal.

The weather gave us warmth in Chongqing, perfect weather in Chengdu, rain in Huanglong, and gradually clearing skies in Jiuzhaigou.

Very good for the hotel in Chengdu and the one in Jiuzhaigou where we had a good dinner.

The Tulip Inn Shangmo hotel has the advantage of being close to Jiuzhaigou Airport (20 minutes by car) for a very early flight. It is original with rooms scattered among several houses in a village but can be located more than a kilometer from the reception and the restaurant (not very good) of the hotel. Note that there is only a small auxiliary heater in the room and electric blankets in the bed: at almost 3500 m of altitude and depending on the season it can not be very warm in the room (we were not cold). On the other hand, it was necessary to negotiate for a good while through our guide to obtain the Tibetan-style room reserved instead of the standard room without style assigned to us on our arrival.

Chongqing

What amazement at these sculptures carved into the rock! The guide enriched the visits with numerous commentaries and anecdotes.

Before taking us to the station, where we parted ways at the security gate in the station hall, the driver-guide led us through the dense crowds of Ci Qi Kou. We experienced the gentleness and silence with which the train arrived at Chengdu station.

Chengdu

Thanks to the driver who had a perfect idea of the travel times, Wang Yu was able to establish the order of the visits she had prepared. The day was very full. So after the Dubai Emirates Mall with its ski slope we discovered the impressive New Century Global Center with its beach! To end the day Wang Yu had chosen a very good opera performance but I think Patrice unraveled the mystery of the changing of masks.

Huanglong – Jiuzhaigou

Of course, Huanglong was our favorite for us French people, who are lucky enough to know the Alps. But we were nonetheless impressed at Jiuzhaigou by the close succession of lakes and the size of the waterfalls.

See you soon,

With all my friendship,

Marie-France
