As you suggested, here is a report on the trip to China that we made from May 29 to June 14 with the China Roads agency.
The itinerary for this trip was very well planned. We saw as many sights as possible. We thank you for choosing the right places for us. The weather was also beautiful, with only one day of partial rain.
We were able to explore China in a completely safe environment. We were able to easily visit Beijing and Shanghai on our own using the metro.
The drivers were very efficient and attentive, and the translation with the phone apps worked very well. The driver in Shanghai must have stayed up quite late, as our plane arrived at midnight, two hours late.
Upon our arrival in Xi’an, we arrived at the meeting point at the train station 30 minutes late due to a misdirection on our part. This triggered your phone call, just after we met the driver, who was a little worried that he had not found us at the same time as the passengers were leaving the train. We apologize.
The French-speaking guides, Nicolas, Lili, Lucie Lu and Mr Maoli, accompanied us very well and gave us very interesting and well-informed comments. However, Mr Chen in Guilin, Ping’an and Yangshuo was a very good guide, but did not give us any comments on the sites we visited, particularly on the rice fields and the karst peaks. He did not seem interested in the cultural aspect, because we could find everything on the internet.
The hotels were very well located and well suited to the places we visited. Only the Mansion 1940 hotel in Guilin had a little trouble finding our reservation when we arrived at 11 p.m.
In Xi’an, the Gudu Impression Zuoyouke Hotel didn’t have laundry service. In the morning, we raised the issue with our new guide, Lili, who, having not been notified, had to unexpectedly find a laundry service that agreed to do the laundry that day. It was her husband who picked up our laundry in the evening before closing time and brought it to our hotel. We are very grateful to them because there were no other options, changing hotels almost every day.
