Introduction to Chengkan Village
40km from Huangshan, is the village of Chengkan, one of the most beautiful villages in the region. This magnificent typical village offers a real immersion in the past of Anhui. Founded during the Ming dynasty, it was built according to the principles of fengshui and is based on more than 1200 years of history.
Unlike its neighbors Xidi and Hongcun, listed by UNESCO, the village of Chengkan is less known and little frequented by travelers. Nevertheless, architecturally speaking, it has nothing to envy them. Built on the bases of Fengshui and the Eight Trigrams, Chengkan is crossed by 3 alleys and 99 streets. It has more than 150 old houses, all built in the traditional Hui style. Among these, 21 are listed as major cultural relics and placed under special heritage protection.
Near Chengkan Village, the Lingshan Rice Terraces, dating back to the Qing Dynasty, are one of the area’s attractions. We will suggest you discover them during your visit to Chengkan.
