When to travel to Chengdu?
The plain enjoys a subtropical monsoon climate from May to September, but these days are relatively interspersed with sunny days. Occasionally, periods of rain persist in the region, particularly at the change of seasons.
This region can be visited year-round, but if you plan to travel to the rest of Sichuan, consider the following tips:
- For the valleys around the plain (Jiuzhaigou, Kangding, Danba and South Sichuan among others), it is better to favor spring when the snowmelt and the vegetation offer a superb spectacle and as long as the rains are not too heavy.
- If you are heading to the Tibetan plateaus in the west, avoid winter.
- If you plan to take a Yangtze River cruise, be aware of the hot and humid climate in summer.
