South Sichuan
Southern Sichuan has more pleasant temperatures than the Tibetan plateaus, which makes it easy to visit throughout the year. From Chengdu, Yunnan, Guizhou or Chongqing for a Yangtze cruise. It is rich in high Buddhist places such as Emeishan one of the four sacred mountains of Buddhism, the giant Buddha of Leshan or the carved cellars in Dazu. The extreme south is populated by minorities, particularly in the district of Yi ethnic group in Xichang.
