Introduction to Baoguang Monastery
It is said that its construction began in the 2nd century under the Eastern Han Dynasty. However, it only acquired its fame and its current name “temple of divine light” with the arrival of Emperor Xizong who fled the central plain during the rebellion that marked the end of the Tang Dynasty around the year 880. It contains several relics and interesting elements, including a leaning pagoda and a tiny fragment of a Buddha bone that the faithful come to venerate with fervor. There is also a hall with 577 arhats, a 160-year-old tree and a painting representing a fox that will follow you with its gaze when you pass in front of it! Entrance: 35 yuan / person. Access: this pleasant monastery is located in the city of Xindu. You can choose to stop there on the road between Chengdu and Sanxingdui. By bus, Xindu Bus Station is connected to Chengdu North Bus Station – Cost 3 yuan.
