(Recommended season: between November and March)Cycling is an increasingly popular hobby in Hong Kong. The route followed by beautiful mountainous and coastal landscapes in the “New Territories” of Hong Kong. This includes the Tolo Harbor Bike Trail, the most scenic bike path in Hong Kong.

Starting point – Shing Mun River

From Exit A of Sha Tin Subway Station, head for Shing Mun River via New Town Plaza and Sha Tin Park. From a creek originally, the Shimg Mun River is converted into a straight-line canal for the development of Sha Tin in the 1970s. Crossing mainly residential areas, the river ended its road in the port of Tolo. Both banks of the river are recreational areas with bike paths and jogging. Dragon boat races take place here during the festival of the same name.

The Museum of Hong Kong Heritage

Under the auspices of the Department of Culture and Recreation, the Hong Kong Heritage Museum presents a unique blend of history, art and culture in a wide variety of programs that meet the public’s interest. Designed to entertain and teach, exhibitions and activities offer a wide range of cultural and educational experiences to visitors. Comprising an exhibition space of 7500 m2, the museum houses 6 permanent galleries (Orientation Theater, Heritage Hall of the New Territories, Heritage Hall of Cantonese Opera, Chinese Art Gallery TT Tsui, Chao Shao-an Gallery and Children’s Discovery Gallery), but also 6 thematic galleries that regularly receive exhibitions on the various treasures of Hong Kong’s heritage.

Hong Kong Science Park

This state-of-the-art architecture group is the research and business foundation for Hong Kong’s science and technology industries. In addition to office, conference room and exhibitions, there are a large number of food and beverage outlets, as well as a beautiful artificial lake.

Tolo harbor bike path

The most popular bike path in Hong Kong, with probably the most beautiful scenery. This bike path runs along the coast from Sha Tin to Tai Po and Tai Mei Tuk. Drive on this track and enjoy the beautiful unobstructed view of the majestic Pat Sin Leng (literally “crest of the eight immortal”), a mountain whose characteristic is to possess 8 aligned peaks.

End Point: The Tai Po Seaside Park

The largest urban park in Hong Kong that includes seas of flowers and large expanses of grass. This is the perfect place to fly kites. There is also a house of insects, an open-air theater, a body of water with model boats, or a bicycle rental company. The 32m watch tower, which looks like a giant seashell, offers a view of the entire park and the port of Tolo.
