Presentation of Shanghai Museums
The municipal museum
In People’s Square stands the Shanghai Municipal Museum.
It has a considerable collection of 120000 pieces of ancient Chinese art antiques and therefore represents one of the most important museums in China.
It mainly includes bronzes, paintings, calligraphy, ceramics, sculptures … tracing the evolution of Chinese art since the 18th century BC.
It is divided in 5 floors, has 11 galleries and 3 temporary exhibition halls.
The museum of town planning
Recently opened, the Museum of town planning invites you to discover the urban and architectural history of the city of Shanghai and its ambitions for the future.
Many plans and photos are on display, along with explanatory panels to help you trace and describe these projects.
But the most explicit and impressive remains the immense model of Shanghai, unveiling the flagship projects of the city.
This is a captivating museum that helps to better understand the city’s urban planning projects.
