In the heart of Shanghai’s Old City is Yu Garden, Shanghai’s most beautiful Chinese garden.It was built in the 16th century, under the Ming Dynasty, by a Sichuan court official, following the tradition of Chinese gardens.It symbolizes the world in miniature, indeed, rivers here are streams and mountains of rocks, and place man in harmony with this world.This small green labyrinth stretches over 2 hectares, and guides you through the flowery paths, the picturesque pavilions, the lotus and goldfish ponds, the small bridges, the stone sculptures …A true calm and harmonious garden, offering a peaceful moment to the visitor, on condition to avoid to go there the weekend, when it is invaded by the Chinese tourists.

Plan between 2 and 3 hours for the garden visit.Chinese name : Yùyuán – 豫园Metro line 10, get off at Yuyuan 豫园, Exit 1Ticket prices :– From April to June and September to November: 40¥.– From December to March and July/August: 30¥Opening hours :– From April to June and September to November: 8:30 to 17:00 (8:30am to 5pm).– From December to March and July / August: 8:30 to 16:30 (8:30am to 4:30pm).Tip: start the visit as soon as the doors open because this beautiful garden is quickly stormed by many visitors.
