Introduction to the Qing Tombs
These tombs are located 130km east of Beijing. This is the largest necropolis of the Manchu dynasty. This complex meets the rules of Chinese geomancy like the Ming Tombs. They house the tombs of 5 emperors, 15 empresses, some princes and princesses and 136 concubines. The tombs were looted in 1928. They are real treasures as much for the rich materials used as for their symbols. The tombs of Cixi and Yuling are the most impressive. The environment around the tombs is very relaxing and bucolic.
