Guilin - 桂林

Some pictures of the city of Guilin

Presentation of the city of Guilin

Guilin, a pleasant city located in the north of Guangxi province, is more a place of passage than a real tourist interest. We advise you to head to Guilin in the Yangshuo area (in the old town or beautiful countryside), or to rice terraces in the north around Ping’an village, and to escape the flow always growing of Chinese and Western tourists staying overnight in Guilin, before being piled up like sardines in the boats leaving every morning to Yangshuo for a cruise that we do not recommend on the Li River. Here are the main sights in Guilin:

The cruise on the Lijiang River

This boat trip on the Lijiang River is a delight for the scenery, although we prefer a Guilin cruise from Yangshuo. Along the banks, there are landscaped sites on 83 km between Guilin and Yangshuo.

Yangshuo

This place in the Guilin region is known for the captivating beauty of its rural landscapes. See further: Yangshuo.

The Cave of Roseau Flutes (Ludiyan)

This limestone cave contains many stalactites and stalagmites highlighted by the play of light, in the surroundings of Guilin.

Qinxing Park (Seven Stars)

It seems to be the largest and most beautiful park in Guilin.

Diecai Hill (colors accumulated)

At the top of this set of rock walls covered with colorful veins, we discover a magnificent panorama for Guilin.

Elephant Trunk Hill (Xiangbishan)

She is like, it is said, an elephant plunging its trunk into the water. We can admire the effect produced by light in the water. This hill is inscribed on the insignia of the city of Guilin.

The Lingqu canal

Dugged in 214 BC, it is one of the three largest hydraulic structures in ancient China and the oldest canal in the world.

Other tourist attractions in Guilin

Duxiu Peak, Nanxi Park, Peach Flower River, Big Banian, etc.
