Bajiao Zhai Park is located 2.5 hours drive northeast of Guilin, on the border of the Guangxi and Hunan regions. The particular relief of the mountains called Danxia is the name given to these landscapes which are characterized by a set of eroded reliefs, composed of spectacular natural columns and rounded turrets which rise above subtropical vegetation. The site, still little visited, is nevertheless well developed. Stone steps built on a steep rocky ridge, and footbridges, wind along the cliff side, thus tracing a path around the promontory through defiles and caverns shaped by the flow of water. The summits of the platforms offer a beautiful panoramic view of these strange mountains. A must-see site for photographers and lovers of unusual landscapes. Nearby, on the Hunan side, in the same mountain range, we find Mount Tianmen (accessible by cable car), and the Langshan natural park as well as the Fuyi River.
